Handcraft meaningful and personal heirloom wooden toys for the little ones in your life. Over the course of three weeks, we’ll make a rattle in the first session, and then a toy car, or an animal with wheels, over the next two sessions. As time permits, personal touches and embellishments are also encouraged as your skill progress in this class. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
Have you worked in glassblowing before? Refine your glassblowing skills by developing personal goals while working independently, or with a partner, on a self-directed project. In this workshop, we’ll explore an experimental twist on tie-dye using SolarFast, a light sensitive dye. You’ll learn how to fold, bind, and expose fabric to sunlight to create one-of-a-kind patterns that blend traditional tie-dye with photographic printing techniques. Instructor is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Woodworkers and gardeners, either or both, can find a fun day of creativity with this class. Start off in the woodshop where you’ll create a whimsical gnome planter, using the lathe to create your piece, then add finishing touches with various other tools. After a lunch break, head over to GoggleWorks’ Gardens at Lauer’s Park where you will add actual life to your gnome planter with a plant or flower that you’ll pot yourself.
