The Ceramics Studio Passport allows you to access open studio hours during our Fall 2018 term. Limited to students with a basic knowledge of ceramics and overseen by a monitor, instead of instructor, this “class” is a great opportunity to work at your own pace and continue your exploration in clay.

Make a hand-built bowl and help someone in need. Souper Bowl Workshops at GoggleWorks support Opportunity House’s annual Souper Bowl Fundraiser. For each workshop registration, a GoggleWorks ceramic studio artist will donate a bowl to Opportunity House’s annual Souper Bowl Fundraiser. Opportunity House, located in downtown Reading, is a multi-service organization that improves the quality of life for children, families, and adults who face various obstacles to independence and supports their efforts to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency and well-being. For more information, visit opphouse.org. Private Souper Bowl Workshops are available for groups of between 8 and 20. They make a great hands-on experience for both corporate, adult, and youth groups. Contact our Programs Department for pricing and availability. All supplies included.

Learn how to construct your own handmade coffee mug using stoneware clay and handbuilding techniques. After your cup is glazed and fired, take it over to Benchwarmers Coffee & Doughnuts in West Reading, where they’ll fill it up for $1.00!

Ages: 7-12

Bring the family and spend a couple of hours making keepsake holiday ornaments to decorate the house or give as a gift. Using cookie cutters to create festive shapes, you’ll decorate them with Majolica (colored) glazes. Once fired in the kiln, they’ll be ready to hang. An adult must participate in the workshop – the tuition fee covers one individual and you must register for each adult and child attending. All supplies included. Pre-registration is required.

Learn the basic process of slip casting while creating a unique porcelain sculptural vessel. You will leave this workshop understanding how the casting process works along with how different materials such as casting clay and plaster can be used to create interesting ceramic works.

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Explore using drape and slump molds to make several common pottery forms such as trays, plates, and bowls as an alternative to the potter’s wheel. Learn through demonstration and hands-on experience in working with soft slabs and several types of molds. Leave this workshop with a good understanding of how to make your own and continue your exploration independently.

Grab your loved ones and join us at GoggleWorks for a creative night out! During our Maker Dates you will enjoy beer, wine, and light fare supplied by Belly Kitchen & Drinkery. Get a tour of our most popular studio and then have our ceramic instructors will walk you through the basics of working on the Potter’s Wheel. Create a unique piece of Pottery, then choose a glaze from our Ceramic studio’s selection.

All supplies included. Please wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty.
