Fall 2022 | October 10th - November 17th

The After School Arts Program (ASAP) offers students, ages 7-17, residing in the Reading School District and beyond, the opportunity to explore, experiment, and develop their creativity through hands-on, collaborative projects at no cost to their families. Taught by professional artists and educators, ASAP provides students with all of the knowledge and excitement of an after school arts program wherever it’s most convenient to them. ASAP will offer one online class per week per age group from 4:00-5:30pm.

The Fall term will be starting in October!  Check back in August to register for the Fall ASAP term!

 

We’ll be celebrating the culmination of the Spring II 2022 term with either a virtual or in-person Family Arts Night celebration details are TBD!

Ages 7-10

Monday: Ceramics – This class covers the basics of clay hand-building and includes concepts such as coil building, slab rolling, and scoring and slipping. This class will be held on-site at GoggleWorks campus. 

Tuesday: Storytelling and Art [virtual] – Learn the process of creating stories with art including world-building, character development, and illustration. Students will use various media for art, including colored pencils, crayons, and markers. 

Wednesday: Acrylic Painting – Work with Acrylic and learn the basics of painting, including the color wheel, mixing and gradients, wet and dry techniques, as well as painting with various tools. 

Thursday: Mixed Media *[bilingual] – Learn to create art via a combination of various types of media in a single artwork. Class is taught in Spanish as well as English making it perfect for bilingual learners. 

Ages 10 - 13

Monday: Intermediate Drawing [virtual] – Learn the basics drawing techniques such as cross hatching, blending, and shading. 

Tuesday: Ceramics *[bilingual] – This class covers the basics of clay hand-building and includes concepts such as coil building, slab rolling, and scoring and slipping. Pieces will be fired and painted. 

Tuesday: Making Beats w/ FL Studio – Learn the basics of music composition, beat progression, and instrumental overlay as you create music from scratch in the GW Recording Studio! Students will work together to create 1 or 2 musical masterpieces throughout the term! 

Tuesday: Theater Skills – Come prepared to write, act, and improvise in this introduction to theatre skills class. Students will work together to create a skit that will be performed live at the culmination of the class! 

Wednesday: Acrylic Painting [virtual] – Learn the basic elements of drawing and painting: color, tone, line, shape, space, and texture.

Thursday: Mixed Media *[bilingual] – Learn to create art via a combination of various types of media in a single artwork. Class is taught in Spanish as well as English making it perfect for bilingual learners. 

Thursday: Dig in! Outdoor Gardening – Have you ever wanted to grow your own food? Let’s learn to investigate nature, grow food, and explore new culinary flavors directly in the garden. Inspire your green thumb in the new GoggleWorks Gardens at Lauer’s Park! 

Ages 13 - 17

Monday: Virtual Reality [in-person] – Step into a new world as you create your own space in a 3D virtual reality. Students will create a virtual space accessible from the internet that includes personal VR artwork and audio.

Tuesday: Advanced Drawing [virtual] – Learn the advanced concepts of composition while you develop drawing techniques such as cross hatching, blending, and shading. Students will also touch on more advanced concepts such as: atmospheric perspective, balance, depth, and contrast.

Tuesday: Fused Glass – Learn how to create designs, cut glass, then layer glass and grit to create fused glass art! You should expect to create between 4 and 6 glass pieces of art throughout the duration of this course! 

Tuesday: Making Beats w/ FL Studio – Learn the basics of music composition, beat progression, and instrumental overlay as you create music from scratch in the GW Recording Studio! Students will work together to create 1 or 2 musical masterpieces throughout the term! 

Wednesday: Art Club – Do you like to collaborate and work towards transforming others’ lives with art? Try the GoggleWorks Art Club, and work with fellow teens with guidance from artist mentors as you develop and work towards making a collaboration project.
