In this painting Maker Date, you and your date will use acrylics to paint sets of wooden cut-out ornaments and then finish them with quick drying varnish. Share a charcuterie spread curated by Chef Harley, and your choice of draft beverage from Thorn Alley Kitchen during the workshop. You’ll each leave with a pair of wooden holiday ornaments you can keep in your home, or gift to another loved one. Tuition fee covers one individual; you must register each person attending.

Make your own wearable cyanotype! In this Maker Date, you’ll learn how to create a unique cyanotype print on a T-shirt using sunlight, objects, and photo negatives. Create a modern color ladder suncatcher as you learn the fundamentals of traditional leaded stained glass. You’ll be introduced to the classic lead came technique used to construct large-scale stained glass panels, along with soldering and patina methods to give your piece a polished finish. This clean geometric design is a great introduction to the precision and craftsmanship of traditional lead work. Closed-toe shoesĀ required.
Learn the basics of woodturning while creating a charming wooden apple. Come with no experience and gain hands-on introduction to the art of turning wood on a lathe. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
Learn the basics of bead making and create your very own decorated bottle opener! This is a great introduction to learning to work with the material on the torch. Wear closed-toe shoes, natural fabrics (like cotton), and tie back long hair in the studio.
Make your own designs to decorate a metal lantern with glass. Learn glass cutting, safety practices, and the glass fusing process as our instructor guides you through design options and assembly techniques. Closed-toe shoesĀ required.

For this year’s celebration, why not add a handcrafted peppermill to your Thanksgiving table. Either for the hustle and bustle of family to enjoy, or for you to simply grind some pepper onto your dinner, learn how to turn a peppermill and install the mechanism to make it operate! A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
Discover design opportunities that can be applied to bowl turnings! Explore cutting and re-assembling finished bowls, layout and implementation of pyrography, texturing using both hand and power texturing tools, and finally coloring using a variety of techniques. Walk away with a better understanding of basic bowl turning as well as some creative avenues to pursue to enhance your turnings. Assemblages can also be explored in spindle turning techniques. Dan Zobel earned his associates degree in fine art from Bucks County Community College in 2009 under the tutelage of Mark Sfirri and subsequent Bachelor degree in 2012 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania under Alphonse Mattia. During the week, Dan puts his degree and experience to use as the woodshop operations manager at Edgewood Made in Philadelphia. Dan stays active in the wood art scene by participating in collaborative events, entering local shows, assisting in woodturning classes, and most recently becoming a committee member at the Museum for Art in Wood.
Art is a powerful, visual language for expressing what words often can’t. In this class, we’ll create three small paintings using bold color and intuition to explore and reflect on our emotions. No experience needed – just come ready to experiment and connect with your inner self.
Shared art materials will be provided in the studio for most classes. Personal supplies can be purchased at ourĀ Art Supply Store, located on the first floor of GoggleWorks.
