Create your own throw pillow cover handmade by you in this unique two-day workshop! On the first day, we’ll meet in our printmaking studio where you’ll choose from a selection of designs to screen print onto fabric. On the second day, we’ll meet in the fiber arts classroom you’ll learn sewing machine basics to create your own throw pillow cover.
In this five-week class, you will discover two different studios at GoggleWorks: the warm glass studio, where you will create a small glass lampshade, and the woodshop, to create the lamp body and the home for all of the electrical components. This class is a wonderful gateway for glass artists to get into wood, and wood artists to get into glass, and for anyone else to just learn multiple skills and mediums for one combined project. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.

Learn how to sew a practical and modern crossbody bag from start to finish. You’ll practice useful techniques like adding zippers, sewing a lining, and attaching adjustable straps to create a bag you can use on the daily.
Create an elegant sterling silver ring while learning essential jewelry-making techniques. We will twist and braid sterling silver wire before shaping, soldering, and finishing your own handcrafted ring. Gain experience with sizing, forming, and polishing methods commonly used in metalsmithing as you create a handcrafted piece of jewelry.
Learn how to safely work with the plasma cutter and the various ways it can be used. Practicing what we’ve learned, you’ll weld together creatively cut pieces into a unique design you can take home and display.Ā

Create your own short film over the course of four weeks. This class will provide you the opportunity to collaborate with fellow filmmakers as we move step-by-step through the process: from catching an idea, developing it into a story, and bringing that story to life on screen. Together, we’ll explore lighting, sound, framing, and other storytelling tools that will help shape your film. By the end of class, you’ll create a one-take short film that will be screened and shared with the group.

Dive into woodturning fundamentals, learning how to properly make a fine furniture wooden side table. No corners will be cut, only the best, most beautiful and most traditional joinery will be used in its creation. The joint most central to this table is the classic mortisse and tenon. Learn the whys and hows to use this joint and level up your woodworking to a place where buying comparable is almost impossible in the disposable screw and glue era. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
A native of Reading, PA, Matt Brown spent over 25 years in the music industry, performing and teaching internationally. After deciding it was time for a change in 2017, his lifelong interest in woodworking grew serious enough that he decided to head back to school full time, enrolling in the cabinetmaking and wood technology program at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA.
He holds degrees from Mansfield University and Michigan State University. He has also studied at Boston University and the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University. Matt has over 30 years of teaching experience, having held positions at Florida Atlantic University, Lynn University, Michigan State University, Millersville University, Franklin and Marshall University, Montclair State University, and Kutztown University. Matt considers himself a life-long student, using every experience as a chance to learn.
Learn the basics of sewing in this fun, hands-on course designed just for children ages 9-12. You will practice using a sewing machine, read simple patterns, and craft a small apron while building creative confidence. Students must be able to follow instructions and ask questions in order to create safely and complete their project.
