Welding isn’t as intimidating as you might think! Learn the basic principles of MIG welding, a process in which an electric arc forms between a wire electrode and metal, causing them to melt and join together. At the conclusion of the workshop, leave with a miniature metal sculpture.
Flame-resistant clothing, long pants, and heavy closed-toe shoes are required. Class will be held in the Welding Studio, Building 4.
Learn the basic steps of loop in loop chain making and try your hand at making a small segment of chain. Together, we’ll form and bend links into a 2-3 inch chain to be turned into a simple set of dangly earrings. A materials fee is due at registration.

Learn what it takes to make expressive comics from conception, character design, and laying out an engaging story. Great for beginners who are excited to bring their stories to life.
Learn about glassblowing as you create an original beer tumbler. Once cooled, pick up your glass at Saucony Creek Franklin Station Brewpub where the second half of the workshop will conclude with a demonstration and tasting with their brew experts 5pm Saturday, May 16. Ages 21 and over only. Closed-toe shoes, hair tie are required.

Make a beautiful piece of jewelry from start to finish. The first class will explore lapidary: cutting, forming, and polishing raw rock into a shape of your choosing. The second class will cover silversmithing and mounting that stone in a silver frame, essential for adding it to a ring or necklace. This is a truly unique and diverse experience! Step into the ocean this summer by making your own coral reef vase! Learn to cut strips of glass in our fusing studio and experiment with how glass can fold and drape. This functional item is perfect home decor to remind you that the ocean is calling! Closed-toe shoes required.
Using digital images from your phone, photograph them with a polaroid lab image duplicator, and lift/transfer the images to a solid surface such as paper, glass, or metal to create a final one-of-a-kind print. Perfect for a beginner or someone looking to explore new techniques, this class is a great introduction to our photography studio.

In this one-day class, you will create a polished stone pendant using lapidary techniques. Instruction will cover stone shaping, grinding, sanding, and polishing, with an introduction to simple pendant finishing or setting methods. This class is ideal for beginners interested in working with stone and creating a finished wearable piece. Please note that this workshop will not include any metalwork, pre-made bezels will be used. Instructor is bilingual in English and Spanish. A materials fee is due at registration.
Get the basics of sewing by learning about machine maintenance, seam ripping, fabric stabilizing, fabric types, and more as you build these foundational sewing skills. Studio sewing machines and equipment are provided while students will bring their own fabric and thread. Walk away with an introductory understanding of how to create your own wearables and handmade objects! No class on June 9th.
