Give new life to your favorite jeans, T-shirts, and other light-colored cotton clothing with the art of shibori, a Japanese dyeing technique that creates beautiful one-of-a-kind patterns. You’ll explore wrapping, binding, and stitching methods, then use an indigo dye bath to transform your garments into wearable works of art. No experience is needed – bring a gently worn cotton item to upcycle, or experiment with fabric and dish towels provided for class. Be sure to wear clothes that can handle a few dye splashes during the second session!

You will be guided through the process of throwing, shaping, and trimming your pieces. Express your creative voice through basic surface decoration and glazing techniques. Get your hands dirty learning introductory skills for handbuilding ceramic objects. We will cover basic techniques: pinching, building with coils, and soft slab construction. Each class will begin with some ceramic vocabulary, a look at pictures of completed work using the technique covered that day, and a short project demonstration. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!

Light up your space with a custom flame votive holder, handcrafted by you in our fused glass studio. Learn the essentials of glass cutting and the fusing process as our instructor walks you through assembly techniques and creative ways to play with light and heat. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Embark on a woodworking adventure designed for beginners with a passion for craftsmanship. Working on the lathe, you’ll learn essential techniques and create a variety of turned wood projects. Whether you’re dreaming of crafting bowls, pens, or decorative items, this class provides the foundation you need to start your woodturning journey with confidence and enthusiasm. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
Sip some freshly steeped tea and awaken the magic of healing through tea blending and ceramics. In this workshop, you will create a slab built ceramic iced tea tumbler. Then learn how to blend your own tea to take home and enjoy. The healing tea blend will be created using GoggleWorks’ grown and dried herbs. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Turnaround time for ceramics can be a few weeks. Once the pieces are ready for pick up, you’ll receive an email from our Programs team letting you know.

Get the basics of sewing by learning about machine maintenance, seam ripping, fabric stabilizing, fabric types, and more as you build these foundational sewing skills. Studio sewing machines and equipment are provided while you bring your own fabric and thread. Walk away with an introductory understanding of how to create your own wearables and handmade objects!
Carve your own relief block, then use it to create stunning prints, with or without ink. Blind embossing uses only pressure to leave a raised, ink-free impression on paper, resulting in an elegant image. Whether you choose to add ink for bold contrast or let the embossed surface speak for itself, you’ll leave with a handcrafted block and beautiful prints that you can keep or share with friends.
Felting is simple, creative, and cathartic work. In this class, we will explore basic needle felting techniques, while crafting a small wool bowl perfect for tiny treasures and trinkets. Skills learned can easily be applied to future felting projects.

Learn about glassblowing as you create an original beverage glass. Once cooled, pick up your glass at Thorn Alley Kitchen at GoggleWorks where the second half of the workshop will conclude with a demonstration and beer tasting with our bartender 1pm Sunday, Sept. 20.Ages 21 and over only.
