Sip on wine or beer, snack on light bites, and enjoy quality time together as you learn to develop basic watercolor techniques. You’ll each create your own set of handmade cards – perfect for gifting or keeping as a sweet reminder of your Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s night out.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day and paint a handmade card set together with your loved one or best friend! Join us after class from 4-6pm, where you will feast on a catered spread, enjoy beverages and chocolate covered strawberries, and be enveloped by the tunes of a live musician. Guided by our instructor you will learn some basic watercolor techniques to help you paint a beautiful pieces of art that you can share with your loved ones.

Learn the basics of watercolor painting with emphasis on letting the water and materials work for you. Other topics covered include mixing colors on and off the paper, how to paint a wash/glaze, wet on wet technique, dry brush technique, and the of use various materials and tools to make unique paintings. Along with the basics, some experimental techniques will be explored.

Whether it’s kids’ cartoons like SpongeBob or something geared towards adults like The Simpsons, then this class is for you! Using the digital media lab, learn what it takes to make your own independent films from concept, animation, and even the importance of good composition and editing. Learn the software professional artists use to bring their cartoons to life, from industry standards like Adobe Animate CC to free budget software like OpenToonz. Great if you’re a beginner or already exploring the medium. Come draw with us!

Practice painting together with your child as you both create your favorite animal in watercolor art in this family workshop! Learn watercolor basics: all about paint, brushes, and paper. Explore color theory, mixing, and creating form, shadow, and light! Note: An adult must participate in the workshop. Guided by Mary Kate McDevitt’s book, Hand Lettering Ledger, learn the framework of drawing proportional words, phrases, typography basics, and drawing skills. Leave with some lovingly illustrated words and phrases of your choice to hang on your wall or share with the world.

Make a splash into the world of color sticks and art crayons, as you explore more ways to be creative with this simple tool than you even thought imaginable. Together in this teens-only class, we’ll create a light hearted mixed media illustration using tools like conte, water soluble crayons, wax pastels, and more to create a small illustration all your own. Open to teens ages 13-17.

Learn how to collaboratively create an adventure with a team! From character creation and asset design to story arcs and the final boss, this class will guide you through the world of Tabletop Role-Playing Games. You’ll also have the chance to illustrate your character – bringing them to life visually with their unique look, gear, and personality.

ArtCycle is a community-driven recycling project where the community creates art on trash bins to promote recycling in Reading parks. This initiative fosters creativity, environmental awareness, and mental wellness through collaborative art projects and community engagement. You will explore the art of upcycling, transforming recycled materials into beautiful and functional pieces. This hands-on program will foster creativity, sustainability, and a sense of community as we learn to see potential in what we often discard. Each week will focus on different techniques and projects, encouraging you to think outside the box and embrace an eco-friendly mindset.
This workshop will teach the basics of drawing the human figure from a live model. Through several guided drawing exercises, instructor Lee Shannon will introduce methods for drawing a human quickly and accurately. Note: This class will involve working with a live nude model. Students must be 18+.
