Explore the art of welding with found objects in this one-day workshop. Start the class with a visit to a local scrap yard where you’ll learn how to identify weldable metals for your project. After a lunch break, you’ll learn how to use a MIG welder and hand tools to create your own found object sculpture. Be prepared to walk in an industrial setting; gloves and boots/work shoes are highly advised. Prerequisite: Welding Basics or equivalent experience.
Flame-resistant clothing, long pants, and heavy closed-toe shoes are required. Class will be held in the Welding Studio, Building 4.
Create a classic diamond-bevel suncatcher while learning the fundamentals of stained glass. You will be introduced to the traditional copper foil method, along with lead came and patina techniques to give your piece a polished finish. Build confidence by learning essential stained glass skills, including cutting straight lines, safe tool use, grinding, foiling, soldering, and finishing. The timeless diamond design is ideal for beginners and offers a great introduction to clean, accurate glass cutting. Closed-toe shoes required.
This workshop will teach the basics of drawing the human figure from a live model. Through several guided drawing exercises, instructor Lee Shannon will introduce methods for drawing a human quickly and accurately. Note: This class will involve working with a live nude model. Students must be 18+.

Make your own fused glass lollipop vase and brighten up your kitchen or coffee table. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the glass fusing process, including glass cutting and safety practices, as our instructor guides you through design options and assembly techniques. Closed-toe shoes required.
Using beginner level skills, learn how to handbuild coils and slabs of clay and transform them into a woven basket. You will learn how to use molds to help support your piece to create a unique basket for your table or kitchen. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Turnaround time for ceramics can be a few weeks. Once the pieces are ready for pick up, you’ll receive an email from our Programs team letting you know.
