Gain a great introduction to working with borosilicate glass and the torch. Melt and sculpt your very own stunning glass acorn by hand. Wear closed-toe shoes, natural fabrics (like cotton), and tie back long hair in the studio.

Learn the basics of glassblowing in this workshop designed just for homeschooled students ages 8-17. Learn the process of blowing and sculpting hot glass, and gain knowledge on the chemistry related to the process and color. Get hands on in the studio as you turn molten glass into a fun item for your home. Please bring your own water bottle!

Using templates and handbuilding techniques, create your own ceramic beer stein perfect for your favorite tall beverage. You will learn how to create slabs of clay by following a template and incorporate textures to the surfaces to make this interesting functional object! Once fired, pick up your stein at Thorn Alley Kitchen where the second half of the workshop will conclude with a demonstration and tasting with our bartender 1pm Sunday, Nov. 8. Ages 21 and over only. Please wear clothes you donāt mind getting dirty.

Explore the essential techniques for metalsmithing and silver jewelry. We will cut, shape, and join metal with hammer and flame and various other tools. Finish this class with a custom sterling silver pendant and a healthy dose of artistic confidence. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Add some decorations to your home for Halloween or Dia de los Muertos. While the holidays are very different, there is some overlap in iconography. Use the scroll saw (one of the safest, beginner-friendly and most accessible tools in the woodshop) to create skulls, bats, spirits, or anything spooky you feel like designing. You are only limited by your imagination and your ability to cut on the line you put on the piece of wood. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.

Dive into the art of flameworking in this beginner-friendly beads 101 class! Using a torch and glass rods, you’ll learn how to safely shape, melt, and form your own vibrant glass beads. Wear natural fabrics (cotton not polyester) and tie back long hair while working in the studio.
