Ditch the standard shutter and step into a world where time stands still. In this hands-on workshop during GoggleWorks’ Iron Pour + Fire Arts Festival, you will play with long exposure techniques and use photography in ways that aren’t possible at standard or high shutter speeds. Using a moving light source, like a flashlight, glow stick, or laser light pens, we’ll “paint” light onto a dark scene and create unique effects on your photographs.

Over three weeks, you will explore the fundamentals of darkroom printing, play with double exposures to create layered, dreamlike images, and discover the dramatic effects of solarization. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop is a space to experiment and push the boundaries of traditional film photography. Please bring black and white negatives you’d like to print, along with any objects you’d like to experiment with (necklaces, keys, gloves, slinkies, hoops, light bulbs, or anything else that inspires you.) Feel free to get creative! All paper and chemicals will be provided.
