Together we will cover the basic design considerations that go into creating stamps and sprig molds out of clay. Expect to learn a new surface design technique, tips for carving clay, and how to use cornstarch as a release when making! Participants of any skill level are welcome, as well as encouraged to bring a small object (no larger than 3″) they might want to turn into a stamp or sprig.
Come and create a small quilt using an African quilting technique which has been used for over 400 years. Kawandi quilts are created by hand-stitching scraps of fabric in a circular pattern that is approachable for all skill levels. Leave with a contemporary wall hanging, combining your personal aesthetic with this ancient craft.
