The bandsaw is one of the most versatile tools in a woodshop, making the bandsaw box a great introduction to woodworking. You will learn to use the bandsaw, along with various hand tools and finishing techniques to create a unique lidded box of your own design. We will emphasize tool safety and the properties of wood as a material, while also discussing elements of design and functionality. Please bring a packed lunch.A materials fee is due at registration. Learn how to cut, cab, facet, and polish any stone of your choice in our studio, or bring some of your own to work on! Discover what it takes to turn a rough stone into a finished, custom-cut gem for your jewelry designs! Once you learn the process, work on as many stones as you’d like throughout the duration of the class! Acceptable stones: pectolite, calcite, fluorite, orthoclase, and quartz. No street rocks or precious gems. Instructor is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Learn about glassblowing as you create an original beer tumbler. Once cooled, pick up your glass at Saucony Creek Franklin Station Brewpub where the second half of the workshop will conclude with a demonstration and tasting with their brew experts 5pm Saturday, April 18.Ages 21 and over only. Secure your spot for the pour by pre-purchasing your Scratch Mold block for the Iron Pour Saturday, April 25, 2026, where you’ll see your creation cast in iron. The scratch mold is a block of sand where you will carve your design. Your design will then be filled with molten iron during a live pour demonstration. Once the metal has cooled and solidified, you’ll walk away with a custom solid iron casting of your very own creation.
New this year! Purchase Open Studio time to get a jump on your Scratch Mold design well ahead of the event. Meet in our metalsmithing studio in Building 6. Limited supply of 25 scratch molds available.
