As “urban sketchers” we will capture the passing scene in a busy and vibrant Thorn Alley Kitchen right in the heart of GoggleWorks, using a variety of water-based and dry sketch media. Please bring sketch materials, and a sturdy sketch journal containing watercolor paper or mixed media paper to class. Sketch materials can include pencils, pens, artist’s crayons, or small travel watercolor kits. Keep in mind this is an operating restaurant, and materials must be compact and neat.
Ring in the holiday season in our hot glass studio by crafting your own ornament or bell. Learn how to gather hot glass from the furnace, add color, and sculpt it into a holiday classic.

Along with your child, create your own set of pinch pot jingle bells from clay in this family workshop. You’ll learn basic pinch pot and handbuilding techniques, add festive textures and decorations, and make a unique holiday ornament that rings with seasonal charm. Note: An adult must participate in the workshop. The tuition fee covers one individual, and you must register for each adult and child attending.

Jump into the world of jewelry design with silver precious metal clay! In this class you’ll learn to use molding tools and basic forming techniques to create a truly original piece. Once the design is complete, we’ll lay your project in one of our kilns to harden it into a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry! A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Join us for a creative night on the wheel and transform a ball of clay into a unique piece of pottery handcrafted by you! Learn the basics of throwing on the wheel while you craft your work, then choose a glaze from our ceramic studio’s selection.

Create a festive Christmas tree basket, a flat wall basket woven on a wooden D-handle and designed to bring handmade holiday charm to your home. A Christmas tree is woven into the front using dyed reed and finished with decorative buttons, making this project a delightful seasonal decoration or gift.
Learn a different embellishment for your woodturning each week, focusing on textures and processes including woodcarving, woodburning (pyrography), painting, bleaching, and sandblasting. This allows you to take your turned forms to new creative heights and gives you the ability and tool kit to start experimenting in more artistic ways. Your turned forms become a canvas and starting point for a myriad of new creative pursuits. A materials fee is due at registration. Closed-toe shoes required.
In this creative workshop, you’ll design and make your own custom ceramic rib tools for shaping clay on the pottery wheel. You’ll work in the woodshop to carve your designs from durable materials, creating tools that match your unique throwing style. Come with your ideas ready, and leave with personalized tools made by you! Closed-toe shoes required.
Handcraft your very own bubble glass tray in our fused glass studio. Learn glass cutting, safety practices, and the glass fusing process as our instructor guides you through design options and assembly techniques. Closed-toe shoesĀ required.

Learn about glassblowing as you create an original beverage glass. Once cooled, pick up your glass at Thorn Alley Kitchen where the second half of the workshop will conclude with a demonstration and wine tasting with our bartender 1pm Sunday, Dec. 13. Ages 21 and over only.Ā
