You can use these skills to create a quilt or even enhance a piece of clothing! The class will cover step-by-step fabric prep and various stitches for both hand and machine techniques. If this sounds like you, come learn how to create your own custom bisque stamps and sprigs for beautifying your ceramic creations with GoggleWorks’ Summer Resident Artist Maggie Adams!
Together we will cover the basic design considerations that go into creating stamps and sprig molds out of clay. Expect to learn a new surface design technique, tips for carving clay, and how to use cornstarch as a release when making! Participants of any skill level are welcome, as well as encouraged to bring a small object (no larger than 3″) they might want to turn into a stamp or sprig.
Come and create a small quilt using an African quilting technique which has been used for over 400 years. Kawandi quilts are created by hand-stitching scraps of fabric in a circular pattern that is approachable for all skill levels. Leave with a contemporary wall hanging, combining your personal aesthetic with this ancient craft.
