Explore an experimental twist on tie-dye using SolarFast, a light sensitive dye, during this Maker Date. You and your loved one will learn how to fold, bind, and expose fabric to sunlight to create one-of-a-kind patterns that blend traditional tie-dye with photographic printing techniques while you enjoy beer, wine, and lite fare. Instructor is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Ditch the standard shutter and step into a world where time stands still. In this hands-on workshop during GoggleWorks’ Iron Pour + Fire Arts Festival, you will play with long exposure techniques and use photography in ways that aren’t possible at standard or high shutter speeds. Using a moving light source, like a flashlight, glow stick, or laser light pens, we’ll “paint” light onto a dark scene and create unique effects on your photographs.

Unleash your inner artist and witness the magic of molten iron at GoggleWorks’ Iron Pour + Fire Arts Festival a reimagining of our beloved Iron Pour celebration! Light up your space with a custom flame votive holder made by you in our fused glass studio. Learn the essentials of glass cutting and the fusing process as our instructor walks you through assembly techniques and creative ways to play with light and heat.
Wear closed-toe shoes while working in the studio. Completed work will be ready within 3 weeks following the event. You will receive an email when your work is ready for pick up. Workshop will be held in our fused glass studio in Building 6.

Create your own prickly masterpiece with a glass cactus sculpture that adds some character to any room. This fun project is the perfect way to dig into the art of cutting and shaping glass, with no watering needed! Closed-toe shoes are required.
Ready to start your home compost journey? Join us to learn how to start, maintain, mix, and sift compost piles or bins. Discover how to compost in small spaces with a garden or no garden at all! You will leave with your very own countertop composting bin.
Please bring a notebook, pencil, and questions about composting to class.
Learn about indigo and create a series of stitched samples to create patterns that echo the beauty of nature. We will explore mokume, ori-nui and variations, and karamatsu shibori. If you participated in a previous shibori workshop, those samples can be brought back and overdyed in indigo. Despite the stunning detail of these patterns, each relies on the simplest of stitches, so no previous needlework experience is required. Leave with a collection of samples as well as one finished piece suitable for wearing or gifting. We will discuss how these pieces can be used as the basis for other projects. Be dressed to get blue!
Be introduced to the magic of analog photography! Using a GoggleWorks’ film camera, you’ll learn the fundamentals of shooting, developing, and printing in the darkroom. We’ll cover how to use the camera, process black & white film, and print using enlargers. Please bring your own photo paper (Ilford B&W); all other materials will be provided.
Class will be held in the Darkroom, Studio 233, on the 2nd floor in GoggleWorks.
Bring along a 10×12 photo and, along with your child, create your very own custom wooden frame together. In this family workshop, you and your child will get to carve, route, decorate, wood burn, and paint a custom and personalized frame that you will remember creating together. Mount your picture in the frame with mat board and protective clear acrylic. End up with memories framed by memories. Closed-toe shoes required.Note: An adult must participate in the workshop.
