A new year, and a new beginning. Some of the same familiar hurdles, but plenty of exciting opportunities await. We are thrilled to be able to offer you these classes this spring considering the circumstances. Like so many institutions, the ongoing pandemic has pushed us to explore new ways of working while critically examining every step of the art making process, to ensure safety practices stay top of mind. We thank all of you who have supported, participated, or cheered on from afar. Your patience, communication, and understanding has been the bright spot in these dark times. Like a beginning student in their first creative class, we have learned so much about ourselves and our potential since our last catalog in spring 2020. The opportunity to reemerge in 2021 is a blessing we plan to take full advantage of.

This term’s offering will look a bit different than those catalogs of the past. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be maintaining limited class length and size for the start of the spring term. Our hope is that vaccines will be distributed, and weather will improve, allowing us to expand to longer term classes toward the later half of the term. If all goes smooth, we hope to combine our new found technical knowledge with our authentic classroom experiences for future offerings that are better than ever. However, with the unexpected twists and turns that the past year have shown us, we have added QR codes throughout the catalog to give you easy access to the most up-to-date offerings in the event of any unexpected turns in the pandemic. By using the camera on most smartphones our website offerings are now at your fingertips.

The start of the spring 2021 term will continue many of the innovative new class formats we pioneered in the past year. Creative Carryout, online classes, and limited capacity onsite workshops provide a creative escape while ensuring safe social distancing. If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience these new creative experiences, our YouTube channel is a great primer of all the hard work our teachers have done in the past months. These videos give access to great topics, a diverse array of art media, and the opportunity to find your creative voice while minimizing exposure and ensuring safe distancing.

We are excited to start this year anew, and look forward to all the opportunities, whether you choose to work from home, or mask up and come in for a socially distanced experience. Your creative growth and outlet have been our driving force through these difficult times. The pandemic has been challenging and we look forward to its passing, but we are excited by all we have learned, and eager to share it with you.

We hope to see you around the studio soon,

Tim Compton
