Join GoggleWorks for a Second Sunday Gallery Reception celebrating Andrea Finch: What the Bees See, a whimsical exhibition of sculptural textile works inspired by gardens, botanical forms, and the natural world.
Once a traditional quilt maker, Andrea Finch has transformed her practice beyond the flat surface, creating dimensional works that explore the shapes, textures, and structures of flowers, leaves, weeds, and other botanical forms. Using new, vintage, reclaimed, and repurposed textiles, Finch layers hand-cut fabrics with dense machine quilting, stitching, stuffing, and wire to create colorful sculptures that seem to defy gravity.
Her work draws attention to details in nature that are often overlooked while opening conversations about protecting our flora and fauna. The result is a vibrant, tactile garden filled with connections to memory, family, community, and the environment.
Stop by the Schmidt Gallery, experience the exhibition, and spend an afternoon celebrating fiber art and the natural world.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
