Chad Andrews: Heavy Construction / Delicate Deconstruction

“My works are a response to the conflicts within my world.  Heavy Construction / Delicate Destruction depicts the conflict between man and nature, masculine and feminine, experiential and commodification, and these are blended with a good dash of idealism. The ephemeral silicone installations live for the duration of the exhibition and then are thrown away to exist only in documentation and memory.”

About the Artist:

Chad Andrews maintains a private art studio at the Pajama Factory in Williamsport Pennsylvania.  He and his family live outside the city on a 130-acre horse farm in Montoursville, and he teaches printmaking and foundations at Bloomsburg University.  He weaves and embeds notations, images, and events into dense compositions that express the world(s) around him.  Andrews received his BFA in studio art from Kutztown University (Kutztown, PA) and his MFA in printmaking from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA).  He has taught at Penn (1994–1999) as well as held the position of Director of Visual Arts at the Interlochen Center for the Arts (2000-2006).  His work has been shown at numerous galleries around the country and abroad.  Primarily a printmaker, Andrews uses all his skills in his work and often includes a combination of drawing, painting and printmaking in his image making.
