Discussion with “Tyrus” filmmaker Pamela Tom

Nov 14, 2018 / 12–1:30pm

In association with Miller Center for the Arts at RACC join “Tyrus” filmmaker Pamela Tom at the Boscov Film Theatre for a free admission pre-screening discussion of her film. “Tyrus” will be shown at Miller Center for the Arts at RACC at 6:30pm.

Tyrus is Pamela Tom’s tour-de-force documentary about Guangzhou-born, American artist Tyrus Wong, his breathtaking scope of work across multiple artistic mediums, and his personal and professional journey navigating racial bigotry in 20th century America. Weaving together images of his work, archival footage, interviews, and commentary from the artist himself, the film captures how Wong’s unique style helped shape the Disney animated film, Bambi (1942), and established a signature style of animation in early Hollywood.
