About the Market

The Reading Roots Market is your weekly Thursday destination for fresh produce, community connection, and free family-friendly fun in downtown Reading. Taking place every Thursday from 11AM–2PM, June 11 through October 8, the market brings together local produce vendors, community organizations, and rotating entertainment in a welcoming outdoor atmosphere at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts.

Visitors can shop fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, eggs, and other locally sourced goods while enjoying free activities throughout the day. Weekly programming includes art demonstrations, Story Time with the Reading Public Library, movement activities, monthly live animal talks, and rotating community-centered entertainment. Prime entertainment takes place every week from 12–1PM, creating a lively midday experience for visitors of all ages.

Whether you’re grabbing fresh ingredients for dinner, spending time with your family, or simply looking for a fun way to enjoy a summer afternoon in Reading, the Reading Roots Market is designed to bring people together through food, creativity, and community.

Student run farm at Alvernia University growing fresh, affordable local produce. Bog Turtle Creek Farm is a student-led regenerative agriculture project that was created in response to a need to increase access to healthy, affordable food in the City of Reading. Bog Turtle plays a primary role in the City of Reading farmers market program, where it sells fresh, affordable produce at more than four markets to residents most in need and who often use government assistance (e.g., SNAP, FMNP).

Programming

Join us weekly for free entertainment. This summer we will feature regular art demonstrations, live animal talks once a month, free activities, and Story Time with the Reading Public Library. Be sure to stop by at the beginning of each month to collect the monthly calendar for more details! Prime time entertainment will occur every week from 12-1pm, you won’t want to miss this!

Free parking available on site; for overflow parking there is a pay to park lot on 120 Washington St, Reading, PA 19601

There are three vendors at the Reading Roots Market every week: Fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, flowers and other value-added goods for sale. for Night Marker stay tune for an updated list. Prime slot for entertainment at RRM is 12-1pm. Other regular programming will change on a weekly basis.
