Job Summary: The 2D Studio Manager is responsible for facilitating a range of arts education programs including classes, workshops, tours, demonstrations, and other activities as assigned. Under the direction of the Artistic Director, manages the day-to-day operations of such programs while continuously analyzing for improvement. Performs curriculum development, implementation, budgeting, and reporting tasks that are relevant to all educational programming.
Essential Job Functions:
Facilitation of classroom spaces
Coordinate with the head of facilities to ensure a satisfactory classroom environment
Create and enforce health and safety best practices
Maintain annual calendar with schedule of events, key dates, and deadlines
Identify problems, analyze solutions, and anticipate student and teacher needs
Enforce and ensure proper implementation of program department and studio-specific policies and procedures.
Interview, train, and onboard new instructors, partners, and renters
Manage the workflows of instructors, work-studies, and renters
Address maintenance needs and requests made by instructors, monitors, and students
Supervise and approve ordering of all supplies and materials that are required for classes.
Ensure adequate and appropriate material, supplies, tools, and equipment to encourage students’ full participation in classes
Education
Bachelor’s degree in fine art or a similar combination of skills and experience
Skills and Experience:
Proficient (either through education and/or experience) in teaching and engaging students of all ages and abilities
Experience working with diverse and underserved audiences
Emotional intelligence and leadership skills
Managerial experience preferred
Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Word Press preferred
Time management, organizational, and planning skills
Flexibility, resourcefulness, and problem-solving as related to effective management
Excellent written and oral skills
Passion for GoggleWorks’ mission and community
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Technical Experience
Candidates should have a basic proficiency in all or a combination of some of the following technical skills:
Printmaking – screenprinting, relief printing, acid etching – required
Drawing and painting (digital and traditional)
Adobe Suite, Procreate, imacs/ipads, and epson inkjet printers
Darkroom and digital photography
Fiber art – especially sewing machine use, cleaning, and tune ups
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Required to travel to and from the GoggleWorks campus and/or various locations in the city.
Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
Must pass a criminal background check before employment.
