Throughout her thirty-nine year art career Rebecca Ross’ artworks have explored the themes of spirituality, symbolism, history, art history, music and peacefulness of water. For the past twenty-nine years much of her work has been created using an oil pastel, scratch board technique, which scrapes into the base coat of fluorescent and iridescent color. She is well known for her geometric abstractions of religious cultural symbols such as Pennsylvania-German barn stars. Modernistic interpretations of Renaissance paintings and Rembrandt drawings are another well known series. A new series done in colored pencil focuses on people performing music.

Rebecca Ross has lived in the Reading, Pennsylvania area for over 25 years. In 1987 she received her M.F.A. in painting and drawing from James Madison University in Virginia. She earned her B.F.A. in art from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1985. Her artwork has been shown locally, regionally and nationally. She accepts commissions.
