Join us for a vegetarian lunch and learn how to compost workshop! In this workshop we will start with an empty compost area and a trash can compost bin example. The low-cost trash can style of composting will allow people with limited or no yard space to successfully compost their scraps. Participants will add leaves and kitchen scraps, and available yard material to their bins. We will construct a compost pile in the new compost system as a group. Participants will learn how to turn, mix, and sift their compost piles or bins. Participants will be able to see compost piles at different stages of decomposition including a finished pile. We will discuss ways in which we can utilize our finished compost, vermicomposting, mulching methods, and  ways to reduce yard waste. We will end by beginning the process of composting our meal. You will leave with your very own countertop compost bin.
