On February 10, 2017, the world lost a seminal leader and humanitarian, Albert Boscov. At Goggleworks Center for the Arts, we also lost our co-founder and visionary. While we are left with an enormous void, his vision is no more clouded by the fog of his passing. Rather, we are overwhelmed with the realization that we need to further the values he embodied: building a vibrant community through creative leadership, embracing education and the arts, and improving welfare for the most underserved among us.
It isn’t enough to simply say what Albert Boscov gave to so many. We must also remember how. He was a man of charm, wit, gumption, and humor. His personality, sagacity and kindness were a bridge that connected people and groups far and wide. The memory of his dynamism frames the mission of GoggleWorks by reminding us that we must continue to enrich lives, not only by encouraging creative expression, but by connecting others with the joy of community and service.
The Tribute Event was held to remember his life and celebrate his arts advocacy and charitable work, a particular gift to Berks County and beyond.
