A self taught artist and painter, I incorporate my love of history and old things, creating oil and mixed media portraits while using various vintage materials, antique varnishes and paints.
My paintings create stories and portraits inspired by images of the past, pulling largely from my collection of antique photographs and ephemera. I work to expose a sense of vulnerability and sensitivity of a subject or interaction of subjects, preferring to highlight quiet imperfections and create an identity where one has been lost. My process includes experimenting with different mediums and various non traditional surfaces to create depth and capture the uniqueness and underlying complexity of an individual who has gone before and been forgotten.
