Metal Studio Technician
Schedule: 15 hours/week, schedule varies

Description
Seeking an individual trained in all aspects of running various metals centric studio spaces who also has managerial experience.
Organizational Background
Located in the former Willson Goggle Factory building, GoggleWorks is the largest community arts center of its kind in the country. The five-story, 145,000 square-foot complex features six large teaching studios in ceramics, hot and warm glass, metalsmithing, photography, and woodworking; 35 juried studios for artists and makers working in a variety of media; and dozens of music, arts, and other cultural organizations. The complex also includes several major exhibition galleries, a 131-seat theater, a cafe and STORE featuring the work of over 200 artists from GoggleWorks and beyond. The Metals studios consist of jewelry, lapidary, and welding studio spaces. We are actively looking to expand into metal forming and forging.
Reporting
The Metals Studio Technician works independently and cooperatively with staff and reports directly to Maggie Gallen, Interim Program Director.
Qualifications:

Teaching experience highly preferred

5+ years experience working in glass

Proficient with welding techniques and safety, small scale soldering

Ability to manage budgets, supplies, and scheduling

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team

Highly organized and detail oriented

Self-starter and good leader

Supportive of the mission and goals of GoggleWorks
Responsibilities:
Overseeing the operations of GoggleWorks´ Metals Studio, including but not limited to:

Maintain rental/open studio procedures

Inventory supplies and materials
-
Maintain clean and orderly work environment including up to date OSHA standards

Work with the Program Department, help develop and implement community and youth focused courses and activities as well as intermediate to advanced experiences.

Produce by Goggleworks for Goggleworks products for the store.

Help facilitate experiences during annual events and tabling opportunities.

Continue to cultivate a strong and dynamic studio community and culture.

Work with GoggleWorks’ staff to market the facility, classes and workshops.

Repair and maintain studio equipment and torches
