Welding isn’t as intimidating as you might think! Learn the basic principles of MIG welding, a process in which an electric arc forms between a wire electrode and metal, causing them to melt and join together. At the conclusion of the workshop, leave with a miniature metal sculpture.
Flame-resistant clothing, long pants, and heavy closed-toe shoes are required. Class will be held in the Welding Studio, Building 4.

Join us in the metals studio where you and a plus one will enjoy a shared charcuterie spread handselected by the chef and your choice of draft beverage from Thorn Alley Kitchen, while gaining a foundational understanding of the enameling process by creating a custom pair of handmade enamel earrings. Through hands-on practice in basic application, firing techniques, and finishing methods, you will learn to fuse vibrant colored glass to metal and leave the session with a completed set of unique jewelry. Tuition fee covers one individual; you must register each person attending.

Explore the art of enameling through three distinct techniques: basic enameling, cloisonné, and plique-à-jour. During the first three sessions, you’ll learn each method step-by-step – from preparing your metal surface to applying and firing enamel for stunning color and texture effects. In the final two classes, you’ll have the creative freedom to design and complete your own finished piece, applying the skills and techniques you’ve developed.
