With GoggleWorks’ After School Arts Program (ASAP), your child will create, discover and build artistic creativity. In hands-on classes, children are immersed in creating art, from ceramics to mixed media and fiber, to classes in photography, virtual reality digital painting and digital music composition, there’s something that will fascinate and inspire everyone. Classes are offered completely free for students in the Reading School District and beyond! Each class is taught by our professional studio artists and educators right here at GoggleWorks.

Kris Jackson, an Arts Partner at GoggleWorks, facilitates Virtual Reality Digital Painting and is proud to offer such a unique course. “VR art creation is in its infancy and you’d be hard pressed to find what we have here anywhere else in the area.  We feature two fully functional VR stations and showcase both virtual reality painting and sculpting programs,” Jackson says. “I think what excites me the most about ASAP is watching what younger kids can create using technology that, in most cases, they’ve never used before.  It’s very intuitive.  Using your hands to create a digital piece of art does away with the cumbersome interface and controls you find on a PC or laptop.  It’s really fun, and the reaction you get when you see someone make something in a virtual space for the first time is priceless.”

Winter term classes are held Monday – Thursday 3:30 – 5:30pm Jan. 29 – March 22. On March 22, ASAP students and their family and friends are invited to GoggleWorks for Family Arts Night, where their completed work will be on display.

ASAP applications need to be received by Friday, Jan. 12. Letters for acceptance and placement will be sent out the week of Jan. 22. For more information on ASAP classes and applications visit https://goggleworks.org/programs/asap/
